The problem with your design is the basic physics.  You are using a magnetic bottle to confine your plasma and a simple transformer to supply current to heat the gas.

While this works after a fashion, most of the heat is lost through synchrotron radiation and the heating current makes for unstable hot plasma.

My design is based on different principles using a physical effect that you don't appear to know about.  This is that the magnetic field near the wire of a solenoid is greater than at the axis. In fact it may be twice as much some distance from the axis but not outside the winding.  I have measured it using the principle of the tangent galvanometer with the earth's field as the reference. The field rises in a linear manner from the central minimum.

This condition is sufficient for a solenoid to be used to confine a conducting gas if the winding is excited by alternating current and 50 Hz will do as my calculations show no dependency on frequency.

The plasma is contained by repulsion of current in the winding against the induced current in the plasma.  With very large currents a large containing force will be generated.

My measurements using transformer windings indicate that for a current of 300 mA AC at 50 Hz and about 300 turns a force of 2 mg towards the centre was generated.

That is 90 AT.  If you have a single layer winding carrying 1 million amps AC at 50 Hz you will have a force of about 22 g force per turn along the winding. Since the plasma turn is smaller than the constraining turn the pressure will be higher on the plasma.

I guess you will need a striking potential of about 80 Volts so each turn needs 80 volts.

To complete the circuit a capacitor of about 2 microfarads to form a parallel resonant circuit to resonate at 50 Hz in needed.

The value is a guess based on experience with circuits. If I knew the inductance of your solenoidal toroid winding I could calculate the value of this capacitance.

You do not need the poloidal field or the loops of winding to move the plasma, the configuration is stable by itself naturally, if the plasma moves away from the axis it is pushed gently back by the restoring force of the well it is in.

The heating and confinement is carried out by the same winding carrying the million amp ac current.

If you tell me the detailed dimensions of the toriodal winding of JET, I will calculate the value of the capacitor, its breakdown voltage and the voltage of the alternating potential to be applied to your reactor.

My guess from the size of the vessel is that you will immediately get an output power of 1000 MWatt.

This design is mentioned in the book I am reading of controlled thermonuclear reactions but is glossed over.

I suggest you use hydrogen as a fuel to avoid any radiation problem. The protium reaction generates no neutrons.  Any that are generated are absorbed by reaction with protons making deuterium.  The end product is helium 4.

The losses of your design are mainly synchrotron radiation. My design has no synchrotron radiation so that loss does not occur.  So while a reactor based on my design but with your size will generate 1000 megawatts the mini design I have will only generate a few KW.

Please don't ignore me.  We have built four successful reactors but I and my supporters have been attacked by Luddites using psychiatry and hammers.  The last casualty was Maia who has disappeared and was reportedly executed for having a bomb factory because "Thermonuclear Reactor" means "Hydrogen Bomb" to professional psychiatrists and GP's.  I have suffered all my life.

Calculation for JET redesigned as I suggest.
